Russell County, KY

My thoughts about Kentucky are it is one of those "postcard" states. There are progressive metropolitan areas and agricultural and recreational beauty, all equally blended with rich Kentucky history-a lot of it known to the entire nation. When I came back from the West Coast, I found myself defending and promoting the Bluegrass State to many a doubter that asked me why did I want to live in the middle of nowhere? My response was that Kentucky is in the middle of everywhere. A day's drive can include visits to Chicago, Memphis, Nashville, mountains and the Atlantic ocean. In both Lexington and Louisville, I would always say you can go from corporate to cow in 20 minutes. In Russell County, sometimes successful industry and small businesses are blended in with those cows! The beauty of Russell County is the slower moving way of life in town and then nature picks up the pace when you get off the beaten path. Wildlife is not in the nightclubs but around your cabin if you're visiting a state park or a campground.
